PUEBLO: In the aftermath of a fatal railroad bridge collapse just north of Pueblo, ProgressNow Colorado, the state’s largest multi-issue progressive advocacy organization, called for Rep. Lauren Boebert to apologize for her failure to support railway safety legislation as concern about the nation’s aging rail infrastructure grows following multiple recent accidents.

“Lauren Boebert is the first to attack the Biden administration every time a tragic rail accident takes place in America, so why hasn’t Boebert signed on to the Railway Safety Act?” asked Sara Loflin, executive director of ProgressNow Colorado. “Once again, Boebert cares more about angry rhetoric and political vendettas than addressing the needs of her district.”

“Boebert’s antics and extremist politics have now had deadly consequences for her district,” said Loflin. “Boebert’s role in creating a dysfunctional Congress; her proposals that would cut funding for rail safety; and her loud opposition to the Infrastructure Recovery Act make her Monday ‘prayers for the driver’ that was killed nothing more than performative.”

“It is a good thing Colorado Republicans are starting to realize how out of touch Lauren Boebert is, as demonstrated by her dwindling fundraising effort this quarter and the loss of Republican endorsements. Boebert’s district deserves better,” Loflin continued.
