DENVER: Responding to the deepening scandal surrounding Rep. Lauren Boebert’s scandalous conduct at a showing of the musical Beetlejuice at Denver’s Buell Theater last Sunday, ProgressNow Colorado, the state’s largest multi-issue advocacy organization, demanded that Boebert apologize to Denver Center for the Performing Arts staff, security personnel, and everyone present in the theater whose evening was disrupted by Boebert’s entitled and likely illegal behavior. Boebert should also apologize for blatantly lying to local and national media for days about her “vaping” an unknown substance before video evidence contradicted her story.

“The revelations about Rep. Lauren Boebert’s embarrassing misconduct at the Buell Theater last Sunday are getting worse by the hour,” said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Sara Loflin. “Despite Boebert’s denials, we now have video evidence that Boebert violated the Colorado Indoor Clean Air Act by ‘vaping’ in the middle of a crowded indoor theater. When asked to stop by a pregnant woman seated behind her, Boebert arrogantly refused and continued to create a disruption until staff were forced to eject her–but not before Boebert threatened retaliation as a member of Congress.”

“Rep. Boebert made her staff lie on her behalf in dozens of local and national news stories, denying that she was ‘vaping’ in the theater when it was plainly visible on video,” said Loflin. “Boebert has demonstrated her lack of respect for the truth over and over in her three years in Congress, but once again, the cameras do not lie. It’s time for Boebert to stop taking the voters of her district for fools and apologize for both her bad behavior and lying about it. And we call on Denver law enforcement to thoroughly investigate this incident to hold Boebert accountable for any laws she broke.”
