DENVER: Last week, the Republican candidate for lieutenant governor of Colorado Danny Moore doubled down on election conspiracy theories in a guest editorial published by the Colorado Springs Gazette, throwing the governor’s race into chaos. A blockbuster story in the Denver Post on Sunday depicted the Ganahl campaign in total disarray after the selection of an election denier as her running mate. ProgressNow Colorado, the state’s largest multi-issue progressive advocacy organization, calls on Joe O’Dea to join the growing number of Republicans condemning Moore’s outrageous misinformation, and Heidi Ganahl’s campaign for selecting a running mate determined to keep the “Big Lie” alive in Colorado politics.

“It has been seven days since we called on Heidi Ganahl to drop election denier Danny Moore from the ticket, and now other Republican candidates are starting to realize the danger this candidate presents to their own chances in November,” said ProgressNow Colorado Executive Director Sara Loflin. “Ganahl’s whispered promises to extremists on the campaign trail were a preview of her choice of election denier Danny Moore as her running mate. And then when Moore tried to ‘defuse’ the situation, he made it worse by validating the election conspiracy theories Moore was supposed to disavow.”

In response to Danny Moore’s continued defense of election conspiracy theories in an op-ed published in The Colorado Springs Gazette, fellow Republican Secretary of State candidate Pam Anderson condemned Ganahl’s campaign for selecting Moore as Ganahl’s running mate in the Denver Post this weekend, saying “It’s beyond disappointing that any candidate running for statewide office would open the door to allow this false rhetoric to continue.” [1]

“After Ganahl’s disastrous selection of election denier Danny Moore as her running mate, there is no question where Ganahl stands,” said Loflin. “The time has come for every Republican candidate in Colorado to join Secretary of State candidate Pam Anderson and disavow the Ganahl/Moore campaign, starting with U.S. Senate candidate Joe O’Dea. If O’Dea wants any credit for standing up against the election denier wing of his party, he must immediately condemn Danny Moore and join our call for Heidi Ganahl to drop Moore from the Republican gubernatorial ticket. If O’Dea can’t do that, he’s misrepresenting himself to Colorado voters.”
