DENVER: One week after calling on University of Colorado Regent Heidi Ganahl to condemn death threats made by Colorado conservative leaders against Secretary of State Jena Griswold, ProgressNow Colorado, the state’s largest multi-issue progressive advocacy organization, demanded an explanation from Ganahl for her continued silence while appearing last Friday at a candidate forum with U.S. Senate candidate Ron Hanks, as well as Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters–who is at the center of a criminal investigation into tampering with election equipment in an attempt to prove the “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election is not legitimate.

“We again call on ‘Heidi the Hypocrite’ Ganahl to condemn the claims that the 2020 elections were fraudulent and the death threats against Secretary of State Jena Griswold by prominent members of her party, so far she has refused,” stated Sarah Loflin, executive director of ProgressNow Colorado.

This call follows a candidate forum last Friday in Fort Collins where Ganahl took the stage with Ron Hanks and Tina Peters and refused to challenge their mistaken claims about the 2020 elections. [1]

“No one forced Ganahl to take the stage with Peters and Hanks,” said Loflin, “but once Ganahl does so she has an obligation to the voters of Colorado to tell the truth. Ganahl has failed that test, and in so doing become herself a willing agent of the ‘Big Lie.’”

“Tacitly embracing the violent fringe might get Ganahl through a Republican primary,” said Loflin, “but the voters of Colorado will not tolerate ‘Heidi the Hypocrite’s’ two-faced lies in November,” Loflin noted.
