Dear Mr. President,
Thank you for your service, sir.
Today, you made a selfless decision to decline the Democratic nomination for president for the sake of our country and our democracy. In the coming days, the conversation will shift to your successor, but today my focus is on your half-century of service, the sacrifices you and your family have made for our country, and the historic progress made by your administration in just four years. This progressive will never forget the wisdom and compassion with which you have done so.
After winning the White House in 2020 and overcoming the greatest threat to our democracy in generations, you remained focused on pulling our country out of the pandemic, healing the vitriolic divide left by the former administration, and fighting to protect women’s rights, healthcare, American jobs, and democracy. You stood up for working families and students, fighting to tackle debt and student loans, and you led the country in working to rebuild our infrastructure. You took on the hard fights throughout this extraordinary term as president and throughout your decades of service, and with gratitude, we thank you for all you have done for our country.
As we continue the fight for our democracy and work to defeat those who would move our country backward, today, sir, we thank you for the tremendous legacy you have passed to the next generation.
Sincerely,
Sara Loflin
