DENVER: Responding to state Rep. Gabe Evans’ vow to continue supporting Donald Trump despite Trump’s conviction yesterday on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to conceal a “hush money” payment to cover up an affair during the 2016 presidential race, [1] ProgressNow Colorado, the state’s largest multi-issue progressive advocacy organization, condemned Evans’ disregard for the criminal justice system Evans once swore an oath to defend.

“Yesterday, Rep. Gabe Evans continued his descent into MAGA purgatory by defending Donald Trump’s right to commit felonies and deceive voters,” said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Sara Loflin. “Evans’ whole-hearted support for Trump comes after using his position during the legislative session to run cover for the convicted former president and the January 6 insurrection. Clearly ‘law and order’ is only a phrase for Evans, and nothing that applies to his friends in Washington. If Gabe Evans is willing to sell out justice and accountability for Donald Trump just to win a primary, what else will he compromise in Congress?”
