DENVER: As election returns in Colorado indicate another historic landslide victory for progressives, ProgressNow Colorado, the state’s largest multi-issue progressive advocacy organization, celebrated these results as the fruit of two years of tireless effort and a record of tangible progress the voters of Colorado rewarded.

“In Colorado, Democrats broke the ‘midterm curse’ and definitively rejected Team Trump,” said ProgressNow Colorado Executive Director Sara Loflin. “If Colorado Republicans couldn’t win this year, they have only themselves to blame and they may truly be on the verge of permanent minority status in our state. Colorado Republicans under Trump have made themselves toxic to Colorado voters, and voters saw right through Joe O’Dea’s desperate attempts to distance himself from his own party’s brand.”

“Heidi Ganahl will go down in history as one of the worst candidates for governor Colorado Republicans have ever fielded, and that’s no small statement,” said Loflin. “Ganahl cost other Republicans their elections up and down the ballot, including Joe O’Dea who failed to distance himself from Ganahl like he tried and failed with Trump.”

“We’re thrilled to see progressives leading the statewide races for Attorney General, Secretary of State, and Treasurer,” said Loflin. “The days of ticket-splitting these crucial races appears to be over. Voters understood the consequences of handing any one of these offices back to the Party of Trump.”

“The biggest surprise of this amazing Election Night could be two extremely close congressional races,” said Loflin, “with Yadira Caraveo leading in Colorado’s brand-new Eighth District and Adam Frisch outpolling the greatest embarrassment in Colorado politics today, Lauren Boebert. Barbara Kirkmeyer’s unprecedented campaign of lies against Caraveo appears to have failed, and the voters of the Western Slope and Pueblo have decided that Boebert’s reign of ignorance and outrage must end.”

“Colorado Democratic leaders have remained steadfast and in touch with Colorado voters in finding proactive solutions to issues like the economy, housing, climate, and fundamental freedoms that Coloradans value,” Loflin said. “Republicans like Joe O’Dea and Heidi Ganahl remained so focused on pleasing Donald Trump, John Eastman, and Mitch McConnell, that they lost touch with things that actually matter to Coloradans.”

“Republicans didn’t have a plan for Colorado’s working families or the economy,” said Loflin. “In the meantime, Bennet, Polis, and Colorado along with progressives at all levels have delivered real change and opportunity for Colorado. Colorado voters know the difference between leadership and empty slogans. Once again Colorado is a shining star for progressive values.”
