DENVER: The Denver Post has published a shocking new report [1] that reveals details of former University of Colorado Visiting Scholar in Conservative Thought and Policy John Eastman’s misuse of university resources, including plotting to overturn the 2020 presidential election results with former President Donald Trump and other co-conspirators. ProgressNow Colorado, the state’s largest progressive advocacy organization, demands that CU At-Large Regent Heidi Ganahl apologize and accept accountability for the severe damage to the University of Colorado’s reputation done by Eastman’s actions.

“Each day brings new details about ex-CU professor John Eastman’s wilful disregard for the law and misuse of resources made available to him by academic institutions in order to subvert American democracy,” said ProgressNow Colorado Executive Director Sara Loflin. “We know that John Eastman played a critical role in formulating the plot to overturn the 2020 presidential election on January 6th, 2021, at the same time that he was on CU’s payroll as the Benson Center’s so-called Visiting Scholar in Conservative Thought and Policy. Now we’ve learned about even more misuse of the University’s financial and other resources by Eastman to help Trump overturn the election. Did Heidi Ganahl have this in mind when she praised Eastman for ‘riling folks up?’”

“Heidi Ganahl enthusiastically supported John Eastman’s appointment to CU, even after Eastman’s deplorable assault on Vice President Kamala Harris’ citizenship that earned Eastman national condemnation months before the January 6th plot,” said Loflin. “Ganahl is hypocritical about Eastman in the same manner that she is hypocritical about every other issue: nodding and winking at the far-right while refusing to answer questions about Eastman from mainstream journalists. The voters of Colorado don’t need to hear any more excuses and evasions from Heidi Ganahl about John Eastman. Coloradans and Americans demand that co-conspirators and their allies take responsibility for their actions on one of the darkest days in American history.”
