DENVER: Responding to Gov. Jared Polis’ State of the State address today, ProgressNow Colorado, the state’s largest multi-issue progressive advocacy organization, welcomed another round of historic progress in this year’s session and urged Gov. Polis to take the next steps in lowering the cost of healthcare, protecting the environment, and restoring funds to public education.

“This year, the first floor and the second floor of the Capitol are ready to deliver for Colorado,” said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Sara Loflin. “Building on the success of passing the Colorado Option and voter’s approval of paid family leave in 2020, this year we continue to keep the promise of saving people money on healthcare. A brief respite from the state’s longstanding fiscal quagmire gives Colorado a chance to restore cuts to public education that contravened the voters’ wishes. And with Gov. Polis’ renewed focus on protecting Colorado’s clean air and addressing climate change as expressed in today’s address, our state is once again leading the fight on the issues most relevant to our kids’ futures.”
