Of all the crazy misinformation that’s come out since Donald Trump became President, the “QAnon” conspiracy theory is one of the wildest pieces of fiction you’ll ever hear.

These are Trump supporters who believe a secret struggle is raging behind the scenes of reality, and that only Trump, former Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller, and—I am not making this up—JFK, Jr. (who tragically perished in a plane crash in 1999) can save the children of American from having their blood harvested to keep Hollywood celebrities forever young.

Colorado would rightly laugh this madness off if Republicans in our state, including a candidate for Congress, weren’t supporters of this insane conspiracy theory. In Colorado’s Third Congressional District, which spans from Pueblo to Grand Junction, Lauren Boebert says “QAnon is a lot of things to different people” [1] and “I hope that this is real.” [2] At the Capitol in Denver, the very real issue of human trafficking has been shamelessly co-opted into a weekly QAnon conspiracy theory rally. [3]

While some Republicans have tried to disavow QAnon, Boebert and even Trump himself continue to court support from QAnon believers for the votes and donations they provide. It’s hard to believe that this kind of baseless fiction is being embraced by a major party congressional candidate in Colorado, but that’s how bizarre 2020 has gotten.

But Lauren Boebert doesn’t speak for Colorado. What you do to fight back every week speaks louder than all the voices of the fringe. With your help, Colorado has a chance in just over two months to help reset this nation on a path of decency and sanity. Here are some great ways to take action for the week of August 31:

Denver Area Labor Federation and SEIU 105: Don’t Starve, Fight! Unemployed Workers National Day of Action

We worked in restaurants, airports, entertainment, hotels, and more. Now, to keep our neighbors safe, we are unemployed through no fault of our own. Congress let the $600 per week in federal unemployment benefits expire. President Trump’s executive orders are a failure. If we are forced to not work during this crisis, then we deserve enough support to survive. All unemployed people in this country need the full $600!

Learn to be a protector with Protégete Action

Right now, many Black, brown, and Indigenous people are forced to live without clean air, clean drinking water, or safe places to work, and our communities have been hit hardest by COVID-19. These unequal conditions are due to generations of oppressive policy choices made by a powerful few. To make matters worse, many people have historically been left out of the political process, especially when it comes to voting. Now we must come together to protect our communities by getting involved in the 2020 election. We need to elect leaders who are guided by facts and science who will protect public health, fight against climate change, and set our economy on a path toward recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
