We now know the hard truth. The only thing that can save America is an election.

For over three years, a bipartisan struggle has raged to hold Donald Trump accountable for his innumerable outrages, disastrous policy agenda, and finally Trump’s high crimes and misdemeanors that were conclusively proven during the impeachment inquiry and trial. All of the new evidence which has emerged during the impeachment process has helped prove the case against Trump, not exonerate him. With Trump’s guilt increasingly certain, Republicans turned to wholesale denial of the evidence–or worse, suggesting that what Trump did wasn’t even a crime.

In the end, Cory Gardner stayed loyal to Trump over Colorado. [1] Faced with the choice of representing the majority of Coloradans who supported impeachment or protecting Trump no matter what the evidence said, Gardner chose to join the cover-up–voting each and every time to suppress new evidence and testimony. Despite promising to be impartial even after most of his Republican colleagues dispensed with any pretense of fairness, it’s clear now that Cory Gardner never intended to be fair or honest.

That’s the Cory Gardner Coloradans know all too well.

After this week, the focus returns to what was always going to be our nation’s best hope for renewed greatness after the chaos and humiliation of the Trump administration: making sure everyone you know understands the stakes in this crucial election year, and is ready to turn out like never before to vote in November. Between now and Election Day, stay in the loop to help us respond quickly as events unfold. For a quick daily update on Cory Gardner every weekday morning, click sign to sign up. And make sure you’re on the list to receive the larger ProgressNow Colorado Daily News Digest.

Thank you again to everyone who has called Cory Gardner’s offices, sent letters, engaged on social media, and any other way you’ve found to send Gardner the message that he must serve Colorado not Trump. It’s frustrating when it’s obvious that Gardner is working as hard as he can to ignore the voters of Colorado instead of representing us. As we head into the most important election of our lives so far, we know we’ve done everything we can to persuade Gardner to do the right thing. Now we make the transition from persuasion to accountability.
