DENVER: Responding to Sen. Cory Gardner’s second vote in the U.S. Senate today against a resolution disapproving of President Trump’s unjustified declaration of a national emergency, ProgressNow Colorado, the state’s largest multi-issue progressive advocacy organization, again condemned Gardner’s vote as a betrayal of fundamental American values, a flat-out contradiction of Gardner’s own prior statements, and an action treacherous enough to disqualify Gardner from further public service.

“Sen. Cory Gardner insisted to the voters of Colorado that he believes Trump must not ‘do anything without Congress’ approval,'” said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Ian Silverii. “This is a defining moment in Gardner’s short political career. More clearly than ever, Gardner has proven to the voters of Colorado that his promises mean nothing. Whatever Cory Gardner says one day is subject to change the next. Cory Gardner lacks the integrity Colorado needs in the U.S. Senate in the era of Trump. Colorado rejected Trump in 2016, and rejected Trump’s party in 2018. In 2020, it’s Cory Gardner’s turn and his vote today shows why it can’t come soon enough.”
