DENVER: As an unlikely alliance between Republican Sen. Charles Grassley and Democratic Sen. Sidney Blumenthal resulted in new legislation to require the public disclosure of the Special Counsel’s report on the investigation into President Donald Trump’s campaign, ProgressNow Colorado, the state’s largest multi-issue progressive advocacy organization, urged Sen. Cory Gardner to immediately sponsor the bill and prevent the cover-up of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

“With Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation getting closer and closer to the President, the risk of a power play to cover up the results is extremely high,” said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Ian Silverii. “Trump’s new attorney general nominee William Barr is hedging on questions about whether the full results of the investigation into President Trump’s campaign will be disclosed. Unless lawmakers like Cory Gardner act now, all of the Special Counsel’s crucial work could be for nothing.”

“According to a recent nationwide poll, 90% of voters including 82% of Republicans say the full results of Mueller’s investigation should be made public,” said Silverii. For Cory Gardner, not just lip-service for this legislation but concrete action to get the bill before fellow Senators for a vote is the bare minimum–if he expects anyone to believe his tired platitudes about ‘standing up to Trump.'”
