DENVER: After the Republican-controlled U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act and strip health coverage from hundreds of thousands of Coloradans, ProgressNow Colorado, the state’s largest online progressive advocacy organization, released the following statement:

“The Republican-controlled House has cast their vote to hurt millions of Americans, and endanger the essential health protections that we’ve had for years since the passage of the Affordable Care Act,” said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Ian Silverii. “Today, more Americans than ever support Obamacare. Americans with pre-existing conditions like myself now have proof that Republicans in Congress don’t care about them. Now that the House has failed to protect Americans, it is up to Sen. Cory Gardner and the Republican-controlled Senate to stop this madness.”

“Sen. Cory Gardner is the only federal lawmaker representing Colorado who has refused to hold a face-to-face public meeting with his constituents,” said Silverii. “Now that he may cast the deciding vote to take away health coverage from hundreds of thousands of Coloradans, Gardner should expect the people of Colorado to try even harder to get his attention when he flies back from Washington.”

“Sen. Gardner, clear your voicemail,” said Silverii. “Your constituents are about to fill it up again.”
