DENVER: Following Sen. Cory Gardner’s “tele-town hall” today with Colorado constituents, which was rescheduled at the last minute to allow Sen. Gardner to keep a lunch date with President Donald Trump, ProgressNow Colorado, the state’s largest online progressive advocacy organization, released the following statement:

“Coloradans have been trying to talk to Cory Gardner for weeks now about his and President Donald Trump’s frightening agenda,” said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Ian Silverii. “Today Gardner took a few prescreened questions by phone, but his answers were completely unacceptable. Gardner continued to spread misinformation about the Affordable Care Act in his drive to jeopardize health care for hundreds of thousands of Coloradans. He misled his constituents about his blockade of Judge Merrick Garland’s nomination to the Supreme Court so that he could confirm Donald Trump’s pick instead. And he refused to accept responsibility for voting with Trump 100 percent of the time, though the majority of Colorado voters did not vote for Trump.”

“Gardner is making himself available in controlled formats to contain the fallout from constituents worried about the Trump agenda in Washington,” said Silverii. “Unfortunately, when it comes to the hard questions about what he and President Trump are planning for future, Gardner has done nothing to reassure worried Coloradans. Colorado needs better than vague promises and misinformation.”
