DENVER: Following yesterday’s resignation of one of President Donald Trump’s closest advisors, National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, ProgressNow Colorado, the state’s largest online progressive advocacy organization, called for an immediate congressional inquiry into the influence of the Russian government within the Trump administration.

“So far, the response from Colorado Republicans in Congress has been totally unacceptable,” said ProgressNow Executive Director Ian Silverii. “Sen. Cory Gardner, who serves on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has said nothing at all about Flynn’s resignation. What does Sen. Gardner know about the Trump administration’s contacts with the Russian government, and when did he know it? Every day that Gardner remains silent makes him complicit in what has happened.”

“The extent of Russian influence over the Trump administration has been a deep concern for months,” added Silverii. “Congress and Colorado’s representatives in oversight and national security committee positions need to exercise their constitutional duties to ensure that America’s government has not been compromised by a foreign power. ”
