CONTACT: Ian Silverii, Executive Director at 303-991-1900

DENVER: With ProgressNow Colorado engaged in another critical election season, the state’s largest online progressive advocacy organization announced its newest executive director: Ian Silverii. Ian most recently served as chief of staff to Colorado Speaker of the House Dickey Lee Hullinghorst, and has a long history working for progressive campaigns and causes across Colorado. Silverii’s first day as ProgressNow Colorado’s executive director is Wednesday, June 1.

“As Colorado’s first line of defense against radical political extremism, and as the state’s largest progressive rapid response team, we’re very excited to get to work with Ian Silverii,” said ProgressNow Colorado political director Alan Franklin. “Silverii’s extensive experience in both campaigns and soup-to-nuts policymaking in Colorado make him uniquely qualified to take charge of this organization at this critical moment. The challenges and opportunities posed to progressives this election cycle are tremendous, and Silverii is ready to lead Colorado progressives to November and beyond.”

ProgressNow Colorado Executive Director Ian Silverii began his career in Colorado politics in 2008, as a legislative aide in the Colorado House of Representatives after graduating from Rutgers University in New Jersey. Since then, Silverii has worked on dozens of successful campaigns at the Colorado House Majority Project, rising to Executive Director for the 2014 election cycle. Ian also has served the Colorado House Democratic caucus since 2010 in a variety of press and policy roles, including as Media Director, Legislative Director, and finally as Chief of Staff to Speaker Hullinghorst during the the 70th General Assembly. Ian is an avid reader, a terrible guitar player, and an aspiring skier. He lives in Lakewood with his fiancée and their cat Mister Sophie.

“Since our founding in 2003, ProgressNow Colorado has played a key role in helping reshape this state into a model for progressive action across America,” said Silverii. “My goal as executive director is to build on the years of success this organization has already achieved, empower the amazing staff and grassroots membership of ProgressNow Colorado, and leverage this organization’s influence to win in 2016 and produce progressive policy victories in the coming years. At the end of the day, our success is measured not by electoral and legislative wins, but by ensuring that this state we all love is left even better than we found it.”
