DENVER: After today’s 6-3 ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court upholding tax credits in the Affordable Care Act in states that have not set up their own health insurance exchange, ProgressNow Colorado, the state’s largest online progressive advocacy organization and co-developers of the groundbreaking “Thanks Obamacare” campaign released the following statement:

“Today’s decision by the Supreme Court once again upholding Obamacare is a huge victory for all Americans,” said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Amy Runyon-Harms. “Here in Colorado, our lawmakers worked across party lines to set up an insurance marketplace that has dramatically lowered the number of uninsured Coloradans. This latest challenge to Obamacare was targeted at millions of Americans who live in states that use the federal health insurance exchange, but an adverse decision would have caused a ‘ripple effect’ in insurance coverage that would have hurt Coloradans in the end as well.”

“Obamacare is the law of the land, having survived every challenge the far right could muster,” said Runyon-Harms. “After years of conservative misinformation and false attacks on a law that is helping millions of Americans live longer and healthier lives, it’s time for this uncertainty to end. There’s still work to do to improve Obamacare, but it’s time to put an end to attempts to repeal a law that is helping people, making health insurance more affordable for millions, and as a result is literally saving lives.”
