DENVER: As four states compete for the “honor” of winning HBO host Bill Maher’s Flip a District competition, ProgressNow Colorado, the state’s largest online progressive advocacy organization, rolled out a billboard in Rep. Mike Coffman’s district to help publicize the campaign for Maher to “meddle” in Coffman’s district.
“Thousands of people have signed our petition telling Bill Maher that Mike Coffman is one of America’s worst members of Congress,” said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Amy Runyon-Harms. “And we’re not done yet. Our plan is to deliver an overwhelming message to Maher, that there is no more deserving member of Congress of Maher’s special attention. Other states are competing hard, and we’ve got a week and a half to run up the score.”
ProgressNow Colorado’s billboard, titled “Finally a win Mike Coffman deserves,” can be viewed along the 8200 block of East Iliff Avenue, a major thoroughfare that enters Rep. Mike Coffman’s district from the west. Thousands of CD-6 commuters pass by this location daily. The billboard is set to display through the end of the Flip a District contest on September 12th. ProgressNow Colorado is collecting signatures to deliver to Maher at flipadistrictcolorado.com.
“We can’t wait to see Bill Maher ‘meddle’ in this race,” said Runyon-Harms. “The response has been tremendous, and we’re sure Maher will agree that Mike Coffman’s district is a prime seat to flip.”
