WESTMINSTER: Learning tonight of the election of Arvada Councilwoman Rachel Zenzinger to represent the 19th District of the Colorado Senate, ProgressNow Colorado, the state’s largest online advocacy organization, released the following statement:

“The people of Arvada and Westminster are fortunate to have a wealth of progressive leaders ready to serve, and tonight they made a superb choice in Rachel Zenzinger,” said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Amy Runyon-Harms. “Rachel Zenzinger has served with distinction on the Arvada City Council. Today, Rachel is a great choice to fight for our progressive values in the Colorado Senate.”

“Former Senator Evie Hudak didn’t deserve what happened to her, and neither did her constituents,” said Runyon-Harms. “Rachel Zenzinger’s top priority, for which she is extremely well qualified, is to continue to represent the people of Arvada and Westminster, and help bring stability back to our democratic process by holding this seat in 2014.”

“After what Sen. Hudak was unfairly put through this year, the simple act of standing up to take her place takes courage,” said Runyon-Harms. “Above all, Colorado progressives are fortunate to have so many great leaders ready to serve. We welcome Rachel Zenzinger as the next woman and leader to represent Senate District 19 in the Colorado Senate.”
